PROJECT 1

Sketching Analysis

This project, we were instructed to conduct historical research on five historical buildings and put our findings together in sketch format. The info spanned everything from structure layout, age of the buildings, names of architectural components and so on.

Reflection:

My tutor-in-charge, Ms Dee, was very helpful in teaching me how to look around for information through various resources and how to present information like how an architect would. I believe I was able to perform well in those aspects and hope to carry these skills forward in future projects.

PROJECT 2

Comparative Analysis Report

Project 2 was a group assignment on collecting information regarding two local historical buildings and compiling it into a concise report in the form of a booklet. Our two choices were the Lady of Lourdes Church in Klang and Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur. 

Reflection:

Learning to work with others and communicating with my groupmates was a massive part of this project, as well as learning to stick to a singular vision as a collective. It was a good learning experience which will definitely inform me in approaching future collaborative projects. The most important lesson for me was that taking initiative as soon as possible in group projects will save you a lot of trouble, as sorting out who is doing what and being vocal in team decisions will ensure the project goes ten times as smooth.

REFLECTION

Overall, this module:


  • Helped to expand my knowledge of many different buildings, architectural styles and influential figures throughout history via informative lectures

  • Helped me develop skills in looking for/being selective with information, and how to present that information concisely and effectively

  • Taught me how to work as an individual in a group, and play a part in bringing many different perspectives to create something consistent

I hope to bring these skills forward in the coming years of my time in university, and into my work in future.
